What we collect
When you contact us
If you send the enquiry form, email us or call us, we receive the details you give us. Through the form that is your name, telephone number, email address, the kind of project you are planning, where it is and your message. You may also choose to send us drawings, photographs or other documents about your project. The form also records when it was sent and the internet (IP) address it came from, which helps us spot spam.
When you become a client
To quote for, plan and carry out your project we hold your contact details, the address of the property, drawings and specifications, the contract, our correspondence with you, site access arrangements, programme and progress records, variations, invoices and payment records. We do not take card payments through this website.
Suppliers, sub-contractors and design professionals
If you work with us on a project, we hold your business contact details and the information we need to manage the work safely and pay you, such as insurance certificates, health and safety documents, qualifications and bank details.
On our sites
We keep site records required for health and safety, such as induction records, attendance and accident reports. We photograph work in progress and finished work for our records. With the client’s agreement we may show photographs of finished projects on this website and our social media, without names or house numbers.
When you visit this website
Like almost every website, our hosting provider automatically records basic technical information in its server logs, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you request and the date and time. This is used to keep the website running and secure. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and we do not build profiles of visitors.
How we use it, and why we are allowed to
Data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for each use of your information. We rely on the following:
- Replying to enquiries and preparing quotations. Taking steps you have asked for before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us.
- Carrying out and managing your project, including programming, site management, variations, invoicing and aftercare. Performance of our contract with you.
- Working with suppliers, sub-contractors and design professionals. Performance of our contract with them, and our legitimate interest in running projects properly.
- Health and safety, accounting, tax and other records we must keep. Compliance with our legal obligations.
- Keeping this website and our systems secure, including filtering spam. Our legitimate interest in protecting our business and the people who use the site.
- Showing photographs of finished projects. Your agreement as the client, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Dealing with any dispute or claim. Our legitimate interest in establishing, exercising or defending legal claims.
We will not use your details for marketing unless you have asked us to, and we never sell or rent personal information. We do not make any decisions about you by automated means.
Who we share it with
We only share personal information where it is needed for the purposes above, and only the parts that are needed:
- sub-contractors, suppliers, architects, engineers and surveyors working on your project;
- building control, planning authorities, utility companies and other bodies where your project requires it;
- the companies that host our website and email, and provide our IT systems, who act only on our instructions;
- our professional advisers, such as accountants, insurers, banks and solicitors;
- HMRC, the Health and Safety Executive, the police or other authorities where the law requires it.
If our business were ever sold or restructured, the relevant records would pass to the new owner, who would have to protect them in the same way.
Transfers outside the UK
We keep our records in the UK wherever we can. Some of the technology providers we use may store or process information outside the UK. Where that happens we make sure it is protected by the safeguards UK law requires, such as an adequacy decision or approved contract terms.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to work: up to two years, then deleted.
- Client and project records: six years after the contract ends, or twelve years where the contract was signed as a deed, because claims about building work can be made during that time.
- Accounting and tax records: six years from the end of the financial year they relate to, as the law requires.
- Health and safety records: for as long as the relevant regulations require.
- Website server logs: for a short period set by our hosting provider, then deleted automatically.
When information is no longer needed we delete it securely or make it anonymous.
Keeping it safe
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including secure connections for this website, password-protected systems and devices, and access limited to the people who need it for their work. Anyone who handles information for us must keep it confidential and secure. If a breach ever happened that put your information at risk, we would tell you and the Information Commissioner’s Office where the law requires.
Cookies
This website does not set advertising, analytics or tracking cookies, so we do not ask you to accept any. It stores one small note in your browser for the length of your visit, so the opening animation on the home page only plays once. It is deleted when you close the tab and contains no personal information.
The video on our Current Projects page is hosted by YouTube. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play. Once you do, YouTube (Google) may set its own cookies and its privacy policy applies. Our links to Instagram and X take you to those websites, which have their own privacy policies.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct information that is wrong or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your information, where we have no good reason to keep it;
- ask us to restrict how we use your information while a concern is looked into;
- object to us using your information on the basis of our legitimate interests;
- ask for information you gave us to be passed to you or another organisation in a common digital format;
- withdraw your agreement at any time, where we rely on it, such as for project photographs.
To use any of these rights, call us on 07813 524384 or email julie@jurial.co.uk. There is normally no charge. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will reply within one month. Some rights have limits: for example, we may have to keep certain records by law even if you ask us to delete them, and we will explain if that applies.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK regulator for data protection: online at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint, by phone on 0303 123 1113, or by post to Information Commissioner’s Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire, SK9 5AF.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if the law changes or we change how we work. The latest version will always be on this page. This policy was last updated in September 2026.
